FYI -The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area is planning to fill a permanent GS-0193-12 Archaeologist in Hood River, OR, in time to transition with the current incumbent in late 2017.
The Columbia River Gorge is world renowned for its complex and diverse cultural history. Tribal occupation in the region is marked by ancient villages, images, legendary sites, monuments and traditional resource areas. The River people have never left the area and are integral in our understanding the importance of the river. Six treaty tribes and numerous other tribes have legal and cultural ties to the Gorge and are close working partners in the identification and management of cultural resources in the area.
