Columbia Gorge Discovery Center hosts the annual “A Vintage Evening: Boot Scootin’ Boogie Ball” auction fundraiser, Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., beef burgundy dinner starts 6:30 p.m. and the live auction kicks off at 7:10 p.m. at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Drive in The Dalles.
Enjoy country line-dance music by DJ Randy Haines, dance lessons with Danette Utley, whiskey, wine & beer tasting, live and silent auction. Scoot your boots across the dance floor during this auction, dinner and dance benefiting the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum, a non-profit organization. DJ Randy Haines will provide great boot-scootin’ music throughout the evening, with Danette Utley offering a few line-dancing lessons.
Chow down on some home-style cooking with a full plate of beef burgundy, wild rice pilaf, salad, asparagus, corn and sourdough rolls. Belly up to the bar and sample some mighty fine whiskey, wine & beer to keep your spirits up. Desserts are donated by the Baldwin Saloon and chef Mark Linebarger.
The live auction will be conducted by Marcus Morgan and the Morgan Auctioneers. We’ll be holding a “Re-Raise the Roof” paddle raise to help keep this 20 year old building in good repair for the next 20 years. Our goal is $10,000. A silent auction and live auction will round out the evening events, featuring a host of terrific packages including lodging and restaurants, art, golf, fishing and vacation get-aways, gift certificates and more.
All proceeds benefit the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. The museum receives no state or federal funding, and is funded by admissions, memberships and various events throughout the year. The annual auction fundraiser aids the museum in meeting its mission goals to inspire appreciation and stewardship of the Columbia River Gorge and Wasco County through collection, preservation, and interpretation of cultural and natural history
